Use a bike speed sensor with your iPhone: what’s new in Cyclr 2.9.0
With Cyclr Pro, version 2.9.0 adds support for compatible Bluetooth speed sensors on your iPhone, with an adjustable wheel circumference. Apple Watch views and the iPhone live display have also been updated.
Speed from your wheel, with GPS as a fallback
A bike speed sensor measures the movement of the wheel. To help Cyclr calculate suitable readings, you can set the wheel circumference. This is part of setting up the sensor and should match your wheel.
Support for compatible Bluetooth speed sensors is included in Cyclr Pro. GPS is available as a fallback source. You need a compatible sensor; this does not mean that every Bluetooth device is supported.
Without an additional sensor, you can continue recording rides for free using GPS.
Ride metrics, heart-rate zones and laps on Apple Watch
The Apple Watch views for ride metrics, heart-rate zones and laps have been redesigned to make their information easier to take in at a glance. The laps feature is part of Cyclr Pro.
Finishing a ride has a clearer workflow too. Saving a recording and transferring it are separate steps, and the revised flow makes that distinction easier to follow.
See where a reading comes from
The iPhone live display explains measurement sources more clearly and makes better use of the available space. This is particularly useful on smaller iPhones, where ride metrics and controls share a compact screen.
Other improvements cover Auto Pause, sensor connections and ride time calculations. Together with the sensor and Watch changes, this update focuses on the experience of recording a ride.
